New Beginnings community radio documentary would not have been possible without the ongoing assistance of several generous partners, sponsors and community stakeholders.

New Beginnings producer Becca Posterino, would like to acknowledge the continued support of the Community Broadcasting Foundation. 2XX 98.3FM community radio station Canberra, particularly manager Adrian Gibbs and Mohammed Ishtiaq and all the passionate and dedicated volunteers of 2XX 98.3FM. Amnesty International Canberra president Ronnie Gori and Refugee Campaign Manager Shankar Kasynathan, for kindly connecting me to the Amnesty and multicultural sector stakeholders in Canberra and Australia. And to the incomparable Nick McCorriston for his generosity of time and expertise as a sound engineer and his astute sound mixing and editing. To Sophie Verass, former co-manager of 2XX 98.3FM who was whisked away to SBS Sydney before she could see New Beginnings come to life.

My brother Paul Posterino who composed, performed and produced the contemplative soundtrack to accompany the documentary. Nigel McRae from Smith's Alternative, for kindly providing the venue and a business and community solution to make this launch a reality. Lerida Estate for generously providing delicious, locally produced wine for the New Beginnings launch. Aussie Forum president, Mohammed Ali, for teaching me the art of community development and friendship. Zsuzsi Sobaslay for going above and beyond as a professional colleague to connect me to the South Sudanese community in Canberra. Artist Paul Summerfield for his beautifully symbolic New Beginnings launch design. Luke Baxter, a pillar of creative support and talent, such a pleasure to work alongside. Luke created our logo and designed and built the New Beginnings website from scratch and in lightning speed, while tirelessly holding down a full-time job and always sharing a smile. Thank you to Katherine Henegan for last-minute and valuable editorial advice on New Beginnings website.

And most importantly to the migrants, asylum seekers and refugees who shared their personal stories of courage, resilience and determination to forge new beginnings in Canberra and Australia. This documentary, I dedicate to you. To all the academics, educators, political and community leaders and stakeholders who shared their professional insights and experiences to encourage us to consider the critical issues raised throughout this documentary.

And personally, the people who love and support me from the background, my family and friends. To my precious siblings whom I grew up with, in an atmosphere of socially connected, conscious and caring parents. To my Mum and Dad for the values and love scaffolding my path as a storyteller and journalist. Our children, Isabella and Sebastien who ask their own questions and form their own views, perhaps in part, as a result of absorbing and watching their mother explore and create this documentary; their creative play provided the whimsical soundtrack to many hours at the computer researching and editing. And to my husband Stuart Bell, who did everything he could to ensure I was supported and nurtured - the background is a busy place. Behind every swan, there is a force beneath powering its grace, Stu powers the grace. I love you so much.

And thank you to the audience who will receive these stories and maybe even consider the issues and questions contained within. Please, be open and respectful to what you hear, we all have a story to tell and many have a deeper need to be heard.
